NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to Make Historic Debut at Bowman Gray Stadium in 2027
by Press Release August 22, 2026 0 commentsWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – NASCAR will make history next summer when the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time, bringing one of NASCAR’s premier national series to the historic short track on Friday, Aug. 20, 2027.
The inaugural CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event at Bowman Gray Stadium will add another chapter to the storied venue’s long history of NASCAR competition and allow fans to see the sport’s rising stars battle it out on the iconic quarter-mile Madhouse.
“Bringing the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time is an incredibly exciting moment for this historic facility and for our fans,” said Clay Campbell, President of Martinsville Speedway and VP NASCAR Mid-Atlantic. “Bowman Gray has always been about putting on unforgettable racing in front of some of the most passionate fans in the sport. We know the Trucks will put on an incredible show when they take on The Madhouse.”
The Aug. 20 event will continue Bowman Gray Stadium’s tradition of hosting NASCAR competition while introducing a new generation of drivers to one of the sport’s most challenging short tracks. It will also mark the first points-paying NASCAR national series event at the stadium since 1971.
The Madhouse hosted the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium for the past two seasons and will now usher in a new era of NASCAR national series competition in 2027. The CRAFTSMAN Truck Series driver who conquers the bullring in August will have their name etched alongside a who’s who of NASCAR legends such as Richard Petty, David Pearson, and Bobby Allison, all of whom have won points-paying races at the Winston-Salem short track.
Bringing the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to Bowman Gray Stadium adds a new dimension to one of the most unique racing venues in the country. Known for its tight confines, passionate fans and intense short-track racing, The Madhouse has earned a reputation as one of NASCAR’s most legendary venues.
