The Rain Out

Christopher Neal, May 19, 2013

All sports have to contend with the rainout but I think it's especially tough on the local stock car racing community.  Football, baseball and soccer all continue to play with a certain amount of rain.  Sports car and most open wheel series will also race rain or shine but stock cars don't do well at all in wet conditions. NASCAR has it's jet dryers and thousands of dollars to spend on fuel.
Remembering A Great Race Car Driver

Christopher Neal, May 18, 2013

We were all saddened this week to hear about the passing of one of the legends of the racing world.  Former ASA, NASCAR driver and short track superstar Dick Trickle took that final checkered flag on Tuesday.  Even though we hadn't heard his name much lately he was never far from our thoughts and  he will be sorely missed.  Dick raced NASCAR Sprint Cup, won a few races in the Nationwide Series but he was most well known as the winningest short track racer in history.
What NASCAR Means To A Community

Christopher Neal, May 12, 2013

NASCAR is more than just a few hours of racing for the communities that host Camping World, Nationwide and Sprint Cup races.  For most the event begins days and sometimes weeks before the green flag falls.  This past Thursday night the Darlington/Florence area held their annual Darlington Car Hauler Parade and the turnout was huge.  All of the Sprint Cup teams showed up with their haulers along with the Budweiser Clydesdales and of course the trucks from Champion Tire.

ARCA’s 50th Daytona Celebration?? Let’s start on a mild note with the ARCA race. Yes, it was a boring race, as most ARCA Daytona events aren’t too exciting. But I must say I was not impressed with the coverage, especially for it being ARCA’s 50th Anniversary at Daytona.
