TALLADEGA, Ala. – It was a career afternoon for Lawless Alan on Friday at Talladega Superspeedway.
In Alan’s 73rd NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start, he tallied his first top-five finish of his career and it was no fluke by any means. The No. 33 AUTODockit Ford F-150 remained within the top-10 a majority of the race Friday after qualifying 16th.
When it came to the final laps of Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225, he did everything he needed to do to keep the No. 33 up front and in position to win his first NASCAR race.
“It worked out pretty much exactly how I wanted it to,” said Alan. “I wanted to be on the bottom and I wanted the 9 (Grant Enfinger) and the 19 (Christian Eckes) to be in front of me, and that’s how it worked out. We all got a really good launch and were all pushing really well. We got to third and were just riding, and I feel like I could have won the race if I effectively blocked the 17 (Taylor Gray), but I knew that I had to do something in order to not be third. I feel like if I did that, I would have won, so I’m happy with fifth, but, man, what could have been.”
Friday’s race was a culmination of Alan’s 2024 season. A season that featured him running in the ARCA Menards Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series. Despite the Xfinity Series start with AM Racing, 2024 has quietly been a breakout year for Alan.
Before Friday, Alan had a 12th place finish at Atlanta, an 11th-place finish at Texas and a 12th-place finish at Darlington. In ARCA, Alan has nearly finished top-10 in every race entered this year including a fifth at Milwaukee.
“I’m super proud of Reaume Brothers Racing and AUTODockit and everybody that helps support me up to this point,” Alan said. “I’m happy to have given them a finish and it’s not like we got lucky. We were there on merit and speed, so it feels good.”
