VIDEO: Doug Barnes Dominates To Win Icebreaker 125 At Florence Motor Speedway
by Hunter Thomas February 11, 2023 1 commentTIMMONSVIILE, S.C. – Doug Barnes started on the pole and led the most laps en route to winning the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Icebreaker 125 at Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Barnes and his No. 88 team didn’t know that practice had been cut in half entering the day, so they never placed sticker tires on the car during the session; however, despite the mishap, Barnes started on pole and stayed out in front of the pack for the majority of the race. The only driver to challenge for the win was track regular, Matt Cox.
Two late-race cautions threatened Barnes’ efforts, but he was able to hold Connor Hall at bay in only his fifth start at the track. Hall originally crossed the finish line in second, but he was disqualified due to the car being too light in post-race inspection.
The DQ gave Kaden Honeycutt the runner-up finish, followed by Mason Diaz, Matt Cox and Brenden Queen who started the race in dead last in 29th.
