JOLIET, Ill. – Brett Moffitt won the Camping World 225 on Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway to capture his second victory of the 2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series season.

Moffitt, the defending series champion only had one win this season entering the night, and it came at Iowa Speedway, when Ross Chastain was disqualified following post-race inspection. On Friday, he crossed the finish line first after a dominating performance. The driver of the GMS Racing No. 24 GMS Chevrolet led a race high of 72 laps, including the final 26 laps en route to the victory. He won by a margin of nearly four seconds over Brandon Jones. Moffitt won this race last season as well.

Jones, who finished second, captured his third top-five finish of the season and his first since February at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver started the race in 19th and raced his way to the front of the pack. In the end, he just couldn’t catch Moffitt and challenge for the win.

“It’s heartbreaking to hear those lap times come across the radio — that I was a half-tenth or a tenth faster, just too big of a gap there,” Moffitt said. “I don’t know if we could have done something else with pit strategies or not, but that’s why we had good pit position there. We did learn a lot and that’s the most fun I’ve had in a truck race in a long time.”

Harrison Burton and Austin Hill rounded out the top-five. Completing the top-10 was Todd Gilliland, Ross Chastain, Matt Crafton, Anthony Alfredo and Dylan Lupton.

There were five cautions for 27 laps during the Camping World 225.

The largest accident of the night occurred on lap 80, when Spencer Davis slid up the track and got into Enfinger in Turn 4. Davis spun down the track and made heavy contact with Austin Wayne Self, and Enfinger hit the outside wall fairly hard. Prior to the crash, Enfinger had dominated the race, leading 49 laps.

Despite the adversity and the 16th-place finish, Enfinger continues to lead in the standings. Stewart Friesen is second in the standings, trailing by 52 points.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will visit Kentucky Speedway for the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225 on Thursday, July 11. Live coverage will broadcast on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 7:30 p.m. ET.
