Pro All Stars Series Commonwealth Classic Takes To Richmond Raceway On Saturday, March 30

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Commonwealth Classic is taking place at Richmond Raceway (Richmond) on Saturday, March 30. The event will be headlined by Super Late Models as they kick off the 2019 PASS National Championship. In addition to the PASS Super Late Models, Tour-Type Modifieds, American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models, Mid-Atlantic Street Stock (MASS) Street Stocks, and North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) Mini-Stocks are all competing this weekend at America’s Premier Short Track.

“We wanted to add more racing to our track’s schedule, so the PASS Commonwealth Classic is a great addition to drop the green flag on the season at Richmond Raceway,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “Fans will be able to see some of North America’s best Super Late Model drivers as well as the highly anticipated return of the Tour-Type Modifieds to Richmond. We look forward to welcoming all the fans, competitors, and industry members to Richmond as we host the PASS Commonwealth Classic.”

“This really will be a unique collection of grassroots racers,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “Richmond Raceway is the perfect place to have this type of event because it allows the racers to compete on a big league stage, but at the same time, they should have some familiarity with the layout.”

Fans will see fifty Mini Stocks entered into the race on Saturday. Drivers are from all along the east coast, and will qualify their way into the 25-lap race. The NEMST Mini Stocks will compete in heat races to set the starting lineup to comprise the largest field in NEMST history. While top southern runners like AJ Sanders, Shane Canipe, Michael Tucker, and Jesse Yopp look to defend their home turf, Josh Rheaume will be leading a strong contingent of New England 4-Cylinder racers.

Nearly 40 MASS Street Stocks are entered for the PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond for a 40-lap race. Greg Barnette, who has won numerous Street Stock races over his career and multiple track championships at Southern National, will be competing at Richmond.

With over 170 cars entered in the PASS Commonwealth Classic, fans will see plenty of action during the almost 400 laps of racing. With two national championship points-paying races for the PASS Super Late Models at Richmond, several drivers are looking to compete in both 75-lap races.

On Saturday, March 30, practice will run from 9 a.m. to noon and qualifying at 1 p.m. with features set to start at 4 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at ticket booths at Richmond on race day.
