Justin Gill Looking Forward To Return To Southern National

by March 2, 2017 0 comments

Justin Gill has not been in action much in recent years, but he plans to be on the track much more in 2017 beginning with Saturday’s 150 lap Late Model Stock Car race at Southern National Motorsports Park.

The 28-year-old from Wilson, North Carolina is a former Mini Stock champion at Southern National Motorsports Park.  After running a handful of Super Late Model races in recent years, Gill is ready to return to his home track with high hopes and expectations.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Gill said.  “I really feel like we’re bringing a strong piece this weekend. I have a lot of confidence going into this weekend.  I’ll have Michael Rouse in my ear all weekend and Evan Snow is coming down to give us a hand.  I really feel we could be a factor at the end of it.”

Gill has not been competing regularly in recent years, but he says he will be at the track much more in 2017.  The 2013 Mini Stock champion moved up to Super Late Models in 2014 and competed part-time in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model Series for a few years, but now he will compete more frequently in the Late Model division with hopes of scoring his first career Late Model victory in 2017.

“We didn’t run as much as I would like in the past few years,” Gill said.  “We’ve been busy putting the new car together and getting it ready to race.  I have a feeling you’ll see us a lot more in 2017.”

For Gill, this weekend is more than just an opportunity to win a race, but also a homecoming as he comes back to competition at Southern National.  Gill will be in competition in the 150 lap Late Model Stock Car race at Southern National Motorsports Park, part of the Dogwood 300.

The Dogwood 300 also features 150 laps of PASS Super Late Model racing.  Tickets for Saturday’s race are $20 for adults, $10 for kids ages 6-11 and kids five and under get in free.  Gates open at noon and the green flag will fly on the Dogwood 300 at 2pm.
