Justin Allgaier Holds Off Field On Final Restart For First Pocono Win
by Hunter Thomas June 13, 2026 0 commentsPOCONO, Pa. – Justin Allgaier was clutch on the final restart of the day as he went on to visit Victory Lane at Pocono Raceway for the first time in his career.
Saturday’s win in the MillerTech Battery 250 presented by KOA marked Allgaier’s 33rd-career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory; however, it took the JR Motorsports 11 starts to finally capture the checkered flag at Pocono. The driver of the No. 7 Carolina Carports Chevrolet has now won at 21 tracks.
“First of all, I’ve got to say huge thank you to William Byron because without his shove at the end of the race, it was probably game over,” Allgaier said.
On a restart with just two laps to go, Allgaier received a push from NASCAR Cup Series regular, William Byron who was piloting the JR Motorsports No. 88 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. Allgaier was then able to pull out in front of the field and set sail for his fifth win of the season, and his second in a row.
“This season has been special and Andrew Overstreet (Crew Chief) and this whole number seven team,” Allgaier said. “This pit crew right here. Everything that goes into it. I get to go home tonight and get to watch my daughter play softball tomorrow which doesn’t happen very often, so I’m excited for that, and we’re going to go celebrate this one for sure.”
Brent Crews finished second in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 19 Mobil 1 Toyota. He finished out Stage 1 in eighth place, and he won Stage 2. In Stage 3 however, he had to bounce back from a late accident.
“Yeah, we were really good all day,” Crews said. “I just want to thank everyone at Mobil 1, TOYOTA RACING – this No. 19 Toyota Supra was really, really good today, just kind of never got us in the right spots there. I kind of did that on my own. That was on me, but the car was really good all day. Got on some different strategies and got some good stage points and ended up running P2 there. Tire of running second to Justin but guess that is the best place to be if we aren’t in Victory Lane.”
Byron finished third, followed by Haas Factory Team’s Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed. Rounding out the top-10 was Anthony Alfredo, Rajah Caruth, Brandon Jones, Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil.
The race saw a record 18 lead changes among 10 drivers. Allgaier led a race high of 35 laps.
There were also a record 10 cautions as well as drivers slipped around the 2.5-mile triangle.
Allgaier now has a massive 250-point lead over Jesse Love in the standings. Love crashed out on the first lap of Saturday’s race.
The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will visit the new San Diego Street Course on Saturday, June 20. Live coverage will broadcast on the CW Network at 5 p.m. ET.
