
NASCAR Industry Tracks Step Up To Help Hurricane Helene Victims

Hurricane Relief Drive Extended to Thursday, Oct. 3
9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

After a tremendous response to Wednesday’s Hurricane Relief Drive at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the drive will be extended into Thursday, Oct. 3. Volunteers from NASCAR and area race teams will join speedway volunteers to collect items of need Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. All items will be transported to North Wilkesboro Speedway where local agencies will disperse to those in need.

- Canned/ Non-Perishable Food
- Adult and Baby Diapers / Wipes
- Chewable Benadryl Tablets
- Work Gloves
- Tarps
Wednesday’s donations will be packed and ready to leave Charlotte Motor Speedway, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The trailers are set to arrive at North Wilkseboro Speedway (381 Speedway Ln, North Wilkseboro, NC28659) shortly before noon, where volunteers will help distribute the items to those in need. In addition, North Wilkesboro Speedway will be accepting donations on site from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Sunday, Oct. 6.

COMMUNITY NOTICE: Talladega Superspeedway to Serve as Collection Point to Support Hurricane Helene Recovery Efforts
WHAT:
Talladega Superspeedway will be serving as a drop-off location for supplies during the upcoming race weekend to support Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in our NASCAR communities. Donations will be routed to families in need in affected areas.
REQUESTED ITEMS:
- Canned/non-perishable food
- Bottled water
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Fans may choose to make a financial contribution. The NASCAR Foundation is accepting donations to support the American Red Cross in its disaster relief efforts. Donations can be made by visiting www.nascarfoundation.org/helene.

Collection will take place at Talladega Superspeedway outside of the Turn 3 tunnel, near the Dega Depot.

Late last week, Hurricane Helene traveled up the Eastern United States, making landfall across multiple communities in Florida’s Gulf Coast, Western North Carolina, Virginia and many more surrounding areas in NASCAR’s backyard. While the rebuild will be long and difficult in these communities, Talladega Superspeedway and NASCAR are committed to drive meaningful and positive impact by supporting recovery in the places where the industry and our fans live, work and race.

Special Track Laps for Charity to BenefitAmerican Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, October 10
DARLINGTON, S.C. – Darlington Raceway will host a special Track Laps for Charity on Thursday, October 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Track Laps for Charity provide fans the chance to drive their personal vehicles around the track Too Tough to Tame for a donation of $25. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by Hurricane Helene.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Helene along with the volunteers and workers coming to their aid and rescue,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. “We recognize the need for support and look forward to assisting in their relief efforts.”
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to people affected by disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families.
Darlington Raceway will also be accepting donations of non-perishable items that will go toward the Hurricane Helene recovery effort. Donated items will be collected at the Track Laps for Charity event on October 10 or can be dropped off at the Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum & Gift Shop, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Saturday, October 12.
When arriving on property, fans will enter the track through the Gate 39A tunnel entrance off Highway 151. To participate in Track Laps for Charity, fans must abide by the following rules and restrictions:
- All drivers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Driver and passengers will sign both waivers as they are submitted to Track Personnel. Signatures must be witnessed by Track Personnel.
- All participants must adhere to South Carolina state laws regarding the usage of seat belts and child safety restraints.
- Passenger vehicles only; motorcycles are not permitted.
- Maximum speed is 70 miles per hour and regulated by Darlington Raceway personnel.
- Passing other vehicles on the track is not permitted. Violators will be removed from the track.
- Drivers must stay up to speed and refrain from lagging behind in order to speed up. Violators will be removed from the track.
- Track Laps for Charity may be postponed or canceled due to inclement weather or safety conditions. If a cancellation is necessary, Darlington Raceway will make its best effort to contact guests in advance of their visit.

Bristol Motor Speedway
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) has been designated as the Northeast Tennessee Disaster Relief Center in coordination with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. The Northeast Tennessee Disaster Relief Center at BMS will serve as a home base for recovery efforts and a major distribution center in the aftermath of the devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene that has greatly affected many Tennessee counties.
Bristol Motor Speedway will serve as a major donation and collection site, provide workspace for the logistics and search and rescue teams in a central staging area, and also house a regional disaster relief hotline.
The regional disaster relief hotline number of 423-830-2696 also will be available for those who need assistance to call starting Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m.
The donation center also will open Thursday at 8 a.m. (ET) and will operate with daily hours from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. The primary location for the collection and distribution center will be in the BMS South Building at BMS Entrance 2 (South) off Volunteer Parkway. Members of the public are encouraged to make donations of bottled water, non-perishable food, baby supplies and personal hygiene products. An evolving list of other donation centers are available on the TEMA website.
“Our communities, friends and loved ones are hurting, and we stand ready to assist in any way that we possibly can,” said Jerry Caldwell, president and general manager, Bristol Motor Speedway. “We are proud to be a part of this relief and recovery effort and to utilize our facility as a resource and distribution center.”
As part of the plan, BMS Hospitality Village, Medallion Campground and also the BMS Helipad will be utilized in operations and housing approved search and rescue units.
On Friday, Sept. 26, flash flooding began ravaging parts of Unicoi, Carter, Washington, Johnson and Greene counties in Tennessee. There have been multiple confirmed deaths in this region and many more people are still missing. Residents in those areas are still without power and running water, and major highways and roads continue to be closed.
