INDIANAPOLIS – ThorSport Racing’s Ty Majeski dominated the TSport 200 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park to kickoff the NASCAR Playoffs with a win.

On Friday night, Majeski led all but 21 laps en route to winning his first race of the 2023 season. Majeski started the 200-lap race in second, but he quickly made his way to the lead just four laps into the event.  Not only did Majeski lead a race high of 179 laps, but he held on to the lead in the final 161 laps; he was untouchable. The performance was a great rebound from Richmond, where Majeski dominated and finished a disappointing runner-up.

“I’m just so proud of everybody,” Majeski said. “Obviously, a heartbreaking loss last week at Richmond. At the end of the day, we win and lose as a team, and that was the message on our eight-hour drive back from Richmond, through the night.”

Polesitter, Christian Eckes finished second to earn his sixth top-five finish of the season. CARS Tour superstar, Layne Riggs finished a career-high of third in only his sixth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start. Carson Hocevar and Zane Smith finished fourth and fifth respectively. Rounding out the top-10 was William Sawalich, Rajah Caruth, Corey Heim, Matt Crafton and Matt DiBenedetto.

Majeski swept all three stages.

There were five cautions for 41 laps.

The first accident occurred on Lap 16, when Halie Deegan and Landon Lewis got together in Turn 3. As Halie’s truck slid down the track, Shane Van Gisbergen, who won the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race in downtown Chicago, made contact with the side of her truck.

On Lap 132, Dean Thompson spun as the field headed into Turn 3, and with nowhere to go, Spencer Boyd nailed him.

The final caution of the night occurred on Lap 143, when contact from Lewis, sent Deegan hard into the Turn 1 wall.

“We were battling, trying to get back from the mishap we had earlier in the race,” Deegan said. “It was actually with the No. 04. He caught my nose, and I was as the bottom there. It sent us both up the track. Then he came back, and spun us out. It sucks that happened. I guess it is what it is. I don’t know what we could have done differently there at the end. I don’t think there is anything we really could have done.”

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will visit the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, August 27 for the Clean Harbors 175. Live coverage will broadcast on FS1 at 4 p.m. ET.
