Ryan Newman Will Pilot No. 6 Ford For Roush Fenway Racing In 2019
by Camille Jones September 22, 2018 0 commentsRICHMOND, Va. — Roush Fenway Racing announced on Saturday that Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series veteran Ryan Newman will join the organization in 2019 as the driver of the No. 6 Ford.
“I am excited about getting behind the wheel of the No. 6 car and working with Jack Roush and everyone at Roush Fenway Racing,” Newman said.
Newman, who currently drives the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, announced last weekend that he would no longer be racing with the team following the end of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.
The 18-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race winner is in his 17th full-time season in the series.
“I’ve always respected what Jack Roush has brought to the sport,” said Newman. “I can remember some intense battles with the No. 6 back when Mark Martin was in the car. There is a lot of history there and I am excited about getting behind the wheel of the No. 6 Mustang to compete for wins and the playoffs next year.”
Roush Fenway Racing owner, Jack Roush, echoed those sentiments of excitement as the team revealed their new addition on Saturday prior to the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway.
“Ryan’s accomplishments and achievements speak for themselves,” Roush said. “He is a fierce competitor and one of the top drivers in NASCAR.”
The team did not announce any sponsorship deals to go along with the move.
