PHOTOS: NASCAR’s Friday Practice And Qualifying At The Charlotte ROVAL

CHARLOTTE – The drivers of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series pushed their cars to the absolute limit on Friday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL in preparation for the inaugural races on the new layout.

To kickoff the day, Playoff contender Austin Cindric led the way in the opening NASCAR Xfinity Series practice of the day, third practice overall for this event. The Team Penske driver clocked a lap of 78.44 seconds at 104.636 mph. Daniel Hemric was second, followed by Canadian Alex Labbe, Ryan Preece and Justin Allgaier.

Up next was the lone Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice of the day. Kyle Busch was fastest in his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 M&M’s Toyota after running a lap of 77.145 seconds at 106.397 mph. Completing the top-five was his teammate, Erik Jones as well as Joey Logano, Daniel Hemric and Clint Bowyer.

In second practice of the day for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, it was Hemric leading the way with a lap of 78.197 seconds at 104.966 mph. Playoff contenders Ryan Truex and Cole Custer were second and third. Ty Majeski and Playoff contender, Justin Allgaier rounded out the top-five.

Kurt Busch captured the Bojangles’ Pole Award for the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America ROVAL 400 to end the day. AJ Allmendinger will start alongside of Busch in second. Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson completed the top-five in Sunday’s starting lineup.

Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 200 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina will broadcast live at 3 p.m. ET on the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) and the Performance Racing Network (PRN).

On Sunday, the Bank of American ROVAL 400 will broadcast live on NBC and PRN at 2 p.m. ET.
