RIDGEWAY, Va. – Denny Hamlin did what he had to do on Saturday and that was to win the pole for the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

Hamlin enters The Chase race 73 points back from Kyle Larson who leads the way in the standings with just two races remaining. A driver can only earn a max of 76 points in a race, and that calls for a perfect run. The first step for Hamlin however, was to win the pole, and that’s what he did on Saturday.

Hamlin is a six-time Martinsville Speedway winner, and he boasts an average finish of 10.2 at The Paperclip.
