Carson Kvapil Kisses The Bricks In A JR Motorsports 1-2-3-4 Finish At Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS – Carson Kvapil held JR Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier at bay on Saturday to earn his first-career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory in the Pennzoil 250 presented by Take 5 Oil Change at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The win comes in Kvapil’s 64^th series start, and he did so while piloting the JR Motorsports No. 1 Wilde Protein Crackers Chevrolet. He topped a JR Motorsports 1-2-3-4 finish, the first time the organization has ever swept the top-four spots. On Saturday, he held off defending series champion Allgaier, who was charging hard for the win.

“It means the world to me,” Kvapil said. “I don’t know, it’s very emotional. I rode around on that lap backwards and just sat there and thought about all the, all the hard work I’ve put in, me and my dad, Travis, to get to this point and the faith that Dale Jr., L.W. Miller and Kelly Miller put behind me to give me this opportunity and give me a second chance I guess you could say to come back at it this year.”

Kvapil, son of former NASCAR Cup Series driver, Travis Kvapil, made his way through the grassroots ranks while also piloting a JR Motorsports Late Model Stock Car. Following the checkered flag at the Brickyard, team owner, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was extremely emotional. With 2026 being Kvapil’s second full-time season, he really needed the win being in a top ride, and Earnhardt Jr. was proud that the 23-year-old finally broke through to capture his first checkered flag on the NASCAR national series level.

“This has been a long time coming,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “He’s like a son almost. You know, you work with these guys for so long, and you work so hard. We worked so hard with Josh Berry and all of our drivers, and you just want them to have success, and he’s, you know, he’s got to win to keep going. You’ve got to win if you want to stay in this deal, and man, he got so close, so, I’m just so, so happy for him, for Travis his dad and Caden his brother”

Allgaier had the faster car in the closing laps; however, once he caught Kvapil, his car got really tight behind him and twice on the final lap, he slid up the track. As a result, Allgaier had to settle for a runner-up finish in the No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet.

“I’m super for those guys and that whole 1 group,” Allgaier said. “I’ve work with all of those guys for a number of years now. You know, obviously having Carson as a teammate, you’re super pumped for those guys. I think that’s the hard part. When you’re in this battle like this, you want to win. You always want to win, but when you work neck-and-neck with all these people day in and day out, and we’re always pushing each other to be better. When you see somebody else in our group have success, it’s hard not to enjoy that for them, but when you’re that close, you wish that you could’ve done something a little different.”

NASCAR Cup Series drivers Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott finished third and fourth respectively. William Sawalich rounded out the top-five. Completing the top-10 was Brent Crews, Corey Day, Sheldon Creed, Brandon Jones and Austin Hill.

South Carolina’s Jeremy Clements won Stage 1, and Rajah Caruth won Stage 2.

There were 10 lead changes among eight drivers. Chastain led a race high of 31 laps.

There was only one caution for an accident, and it was for a spin by Garrett Smithley in Turn 2 on Lap 55.

Allgaier now leads Kvapil in the standings by a staggering 264 points. Following Indy, Allgaier, Kvapil, Jesse Love, Sheldon Creed, Corey Day, Brandon Jones and Austin Hill are all locked into the Chase.

The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will now head to Iowa Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 8, for the HyVee Perks 250. Live coverage will broadcast on the CW Network at 5 p.m. ET.
