ELIZABETH CITY, NC – Dixieland Speedway hosted the Modified Mafia Tour, Sportsman, Super Street, Super 4s and Sport Compact divisions on Friday, May 1.
Michael Altobelli of Saxton, Pa. outran Elm City, NC’s Austin Holcombe to win the 30-lap Modified Mafia A-Main. Austin Self finished third, followed by Hesse Rupe and Chris Arnold. The Modified Mafia featured a stout, 15-car field for the main event.
In Sportsman, it was local racer, Joe Weiss taking home the checkered flag in the 20-lap feature. Moyock, NC’s Jeff Shiflett finished runner-up. Completing the top-five was Troy Warren, Jordan Weaver and Kyle Watts.
Elizabeth City, NC locals dominated the 20-lap Super Street feature. Larry Jackson topped Kolton Stevens and Carter Weiss. Corbett Hamlin finished fourth, and Rodney Busitzky finished fifth. Polesitter Holley Weiss had a rough feature as he finished last.
Rickie Waters of North Wilkesboro, NC won the 15-lap Super 4s feature. Completing the top-five was Brad Hamm, Dillan Rollinson, Brandon Rollinson and Chesapeake, Va.’s Gavin Wood.
In the Sport Compact division, it was the drivers from Virginia Beach, Va. setting the pace and topping the podium. Ryan Bigham earned the victory over Brain Daniels and Missy Daniels. John Gardner and Ryland Lindsey finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Dixieland Speedway will be back in action this Friday, May 8. The track will host the Virginia Sprints, Dirt Limited Late Models, Sportsman, Super Street and Pro Legends.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with Hot Laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. Racing will get underway at 8 p.m.
