Brad Keselowski, Christopher Bell Win Front Row For Sunday Night’s NASCAR All-Star Race At North Wilkesboro Speedway
by Hunter Thomas May 18, 2025 0 commentsNORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – Brad Keselowski and Christopher Bell won their respective Heat Races, and now the lineup for Sunday night’s NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway has been set.
Keselowski led all but one lap in the 75-lap opening heat race on Saturday. The victory marked Keselowski’ second consecutive Heat Race wins in the non-points event. On Sunday, Keselowski will compete for the win and a $1 million purse.
“It’s been a good two days for everyone on this 6 crew and hopeful the other two cars can have good runs – the heat race and the Open so that we can get a great day for tomorrow,” Keselowski said. “It’s good to be starting up front with the Solomon Plumbing Ford Mustang and to be running fast. This is fun.”
Mid-way through Heat No. 1, drivers behind Keselowski pitted for fresh tires. While Ross Chastain and William Byron may have had more grip, Keselowski held the preferred line around the 0.635-mile track and was able to hold everyone at bay.
“Those guys that put tires on, they were really hard to hold off. I had the preferred groove and just tried to use it to my advantage. We’ll see if that’s the case tomorrow.”
Christopher Bell scored his first Heat Race win after leading 69 laps. Bell cruised for the first 30 laps and then had to hold off Joey Logano for the victory.
“The guys did an amazing job on just making the car better overnight and it was really refreshing to get out there and just cruise those first 30 laps,” Bell said. “Then, I didn’t know how it was going to work with having Joey (Logano) right behind me, but this thing was on rails. I’m really happy and excited about the opportunity tomorrow.”
Bell looked extremely fast on Saturday. He’s hoping that his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 Toyota team will hit the jackpot Sunday night.
“Maybe the Mobil 1 Camry is a million-dollar Camry,” Bell said. It’s feeling really good.”
On Sunday, Shane van Gisbergen will lead the field to the green in the NASCAR All-Star Open. Carson Hocevar will start alongside him.
The NASCAR All-Star Open will be 100 laps with a competition break at Lap 50. All laps will count and if necessary, there will be only one attempt at a NASCAR Overtime finish. The winner, as well as second-place will advance to the NASCAR All-Star Race. Fans will have an opportunity to vote a third driver into the main event as well. The NASCAR All-Star Open will broadcast live on FS1 at 5 p.m. ET.
The NASCAR All-Star Race will consist of 250 laps with a break at Lap 100. Once again, all laps will count, and normal Overtime rules will apply. The catch to this year’s edition is that there will possibly be a Promoter’s Caution; however, it must be thrown before Lap 220, and if a naturally occurring caution takes place after Lap 200, then it cannot be thrown then as well. The NASCAR All-Star Race will broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on FS1.
