Brad Keselowski Makes Big Impact On Pee Dee Region Through NASCAR’s Driver Ambassador Program

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Brad Keselowski has always been an advocate for the sport, and while in town for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, he made an impact through visiting children at McLeod Regional Medical Center and by helping the track raise money through Track Laps for Charity.

Keselowski is set to roll off the grid in 20th on Sunday in the Goodyear 400; however, he enters the race as the defending winner of the spring race. Over the past five races at Darlington Raceway, including the Cook Out Southern 500, the RFK Racing driver has finished inside the top-10 in all but one race. He’s certainly a favorite for Sunday, but no matter the result, he made an impact while in the Pee Dee region through NASCAR’s new Driver Ambassador Program (DAP).

“Big credit to NASCAR and their vision for the DAP program,” Keselowski said. “I think it’s really moving the needle and inspiring a lot of people to do things that they wouldn’t have done otherwise. Being more involved in the community, I don’t want to take all the credit. Look at what the other drivers are doing. They’re doing as much or more, and I think you’re seeing that because of NASCAR’s commitment back to the drivers. It’s a great time in the sport.”

On Thursday, Keselowski stopped by the children’s wing of McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence, SC and spent one-on-one time with patients who were fighting for their health. In his full driver’s firesuit, Keselowski dropped off diecast cars and teddy bears for the children and much more. Following the hospital visit, Keselowski made his way to Darlington Raceway to pose for photos in Victory Lane with fans who were participating in Track Laps for Charity.

“It’s certainly a reminder of how fortunate we are when you have those opportunities to go to hospitals and see people who aren’t as well off,” Keselowski said. “We get so caught up in our good weekends and our bad weekends and sometimes lose sight of the broader picture of just how fortunate we are just to be here.”

Keselowski has been competing in the NASCAR Cup Series since 2008 and full-time since 2010. The veteran driver has always been a competitor who has looked ahead to the industry’s future, and he’s a big fan of the new DAP program.

“We spend a lot of time talking about what the sport doesn’t get right and very little time talking about what the sport does get right, and I think the drivers being involved in the community and engaging back with our fans is one of the things NASCAR does very well,” Keselowski said.

The Goodyear 400 will broadcast live on FS1 at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
