RECAP/PHOTOS: Final Hour Update For 63rd Running Of The Rolex 24 At Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After taking the lead during the night, Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 7 Porsche 963 continues to lead the Rolex 24 with just an hour-and-a-half remaining.

Felipe Nasr is currently behind the wheel of the Porsche, and he has just over a second lead over Dries Vanthoor who is piloting the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8 for BMW M Team RLL. Porsche Penske Motorsport’s other car, the No. 6 Porsche 963, being driven by Kevin Estre, is running third just over 1.5 seconds from the leading teammate. Tom Blomqvist is fourth, four second back in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06, and Filipe Albuquerque in the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R is fifth.

In LMP2, AO Racing’s No. 99 team has improved from third overnight to now leading by about 2 seconds. Road course veteran, Sebastian Bourdais, is now running third in the Tower Motorsports No. 8 car trying to chase down Christian Rasmussen. United Autosports USA’s No. 22 team that led overnight is now third, more than 2 seconds back. Benjamin Pederson is fourth, 4 seconds back in the No. 52 car, and rounding out the top-five is Ryan Dalziel in the No. 18 that’s nearly 9 seconds back.

Paul Miller Racing rose overnight to lead GTD Pro in the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO with Kelvin van der Linde behind the wheel. Ford Multimatic Motorsports’ No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 has fallen one spot to second place as Christopher Mies trails by less than a second. Rounding out the top five is Nico Varrone in the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Laurin Heinrich in the No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch in the No. 91 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

The entire front running cars of the GTD class was shaken up throughout the nighttime hours at Daytona. Wright Motorsports’ Ayhancan Guven now leads in the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). He leads the No. 45 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Wayne Taylor Racing by nearly 2 seconds. Trailing Guven and Danny Formal is Lucas Auer in the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3, Matthew Bell in the No. 13 Chverolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Robby Foley in the No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO
