
Darlington Raceway Donates $14,000 To Allison Carraway And The Terrence Carraway Memorial Foundation

(Oct. 23, 2024) – Earlier today, Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris and Owner of Brown’s RV Superstore Barry Brown presented a check worth $14,000 to Allison Carraway, the widow of former Florence Police Department Sgt. Terrence Carraway and President of the Terrence F. Carraway Memorial Foundation, on the track’s start/finish line. The donation amount reflects proceeds collected from the 6th annual Terrence Carraway Memorial 5K held at Darlington Raceway in August.
“The memory of Sgt. Terrence Carraway is one we hold and value closely,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. “We’re grateful to help Allison and the Terrence Carraway Memorial Foundation in continuing to honor his legacy and bring the Pee Dee Region closer together.”
On October 3, 2018, the Florence and Darlington Community lost a coach, mentor, and hero. Sergeant Terrence F. Carraway was fatally shot while responding to assist three Florence County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Sgt. Carraway. Along with serving in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years and the Florence Police Department for 30 years, Sgt. Carraway dedicated his life to serving others and giving back to his community and was also a football coach at Darlington Middle School and Darlington High School from 2005-2011.
The Terrence Carraway Memorial 5K, an annual event at Darlington Raceway, is held in memory of the fallen police officer, Sgt. Terrence Carraway. In its sixth year, it became the second largest 5K run in the Pee Dee region with 376 participants, the largest turnout the 5K has seen to date. Over the past six years, the 5K has raised over $65,000.00 for the Terrence F. Carraway Memorial Foundation.
