Joey Logano To Start From Rear And Serve Pass-Through In Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga. – Joey Logano will drop to the rear prior to Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and will also serve a pass-through penalty due to his gloves not meeting SFI specification.

Logano, who was slated to start on the front row in second place, will now significantly fall behind early in the race. The violated rule was 14.3.1.1 in the NASCAR Rule Book. The rule outlines all of the equipment drivers must wear during competition, noting the various specifications as well.

Starting from the rear isn’t as big of a deal as serving a pass-through because in order to reach pit road, drivers must slow down on the backstretch and creep around Turns 3 & 4.

Logano enters Sunday’s race coming off a disappointing 32nd place finish in the Daytona 500. On the flip side, he is the defending race winner for this particular event. He finished 17th at Atlanta Motor Speedway last July.

The Ambetter Health 400 will broadcast live on FOX at 3 p.m. ET today.
