MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Myrtle Beach Speedway hosted its final race weekend on Saturday and Sunday prior to shutting down forever.

Rain continued to impact the on-track action on Saturday, but Myrtle Beach Speedway was able to get the Late Model race in before darkness fell upon the track.

Sam Yarbrough started on the pole and battled for the lead all race long. Ryan Glesnki led early, but eventually, Yarbrough, who was a five-time Myrtle Beach Speedway champion heading into the evening, made his way to the front of the pack.

On lap 72, Justin Hicks spun and backed his car into the outside wall in Turn 2. As track crews hurried to clean up the accident, rain began to fall.

The Sun Fun 101 was called early due to rain, and it was Yarbrough winning the final Late Model race at Myrtle Beach Speedway. With the victory, he was also crowned the track champion for the sixth time of his career.

Will Burns had Yarbrough in his sight in the closing laps, but he had to settle for a second-place finish. Austin McDaniel finished third, followed by Jacob Heafner, Ryan Glenski, Brian Vause, Chris Throckmorton, Bradley McCaskill, Justin Johnson and Austin Somero.

On Sunday morning, Tanner Garrett won the Super Truck feature. Jody Measamer finished second. Lucas Williams, Barry Elvis and Peter Knight rounded out the top-five.

Averitt Lucas took the checkered flag in the Charger feature. BooBoo Dalton and Joe Armakovitch finished second and third respectively. Talon Gallimore finished fourth, and JJ June finished fifth.

Robert Strmiska won the Mini Stock feature, and Carmen Odum won the Mini Cup feature.

Below are photos that Hunter Thomas captured throughout the day on Sunday.
