About STRATES SHOWS INC

Strates Shows has a history dating back to 1923 when James E. Strates began his first show. Mr. Strates, a Greek immigrant, came to America in 1909 and like most immigrants, worked numerous jobs. In 1919, he joined a carnival athletic show as a wrestler setting his foot in the door on the amusement industry. Strates acquired Southern Tier Shows in 1923 later changing the name to James E. Strates Shows in 1932. Due to his strength and devotion, his carnival was able to grow and expand over the years even against turmoil. He continued to build and manage the carnival until his death in 1959 turning the business over to his son, E. James Strates, who still operates and maintains it today. The James E. Strates show has become an acknowledged industry leader with an admired and well-respected founder by those in the business as well as others who knew him. Now based in Orlando, Florida, the show provides rides, games of skill, tasty foods and merchandise concessions to fairs, festivals and venues throughout the United States.
