Noah Gragson, Bret Holmes Pace ARCA Daytona Practices

The first two practice sessions of the 2017 ARCA Racing Series season have officially been put in the books ahead of Saturday’s Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

Noah Gragson, driver of the Venturini Motorsports’s No. 55 entry, paced the field in a two-hour session on Thursday with rookie Bret Holmes leading the way in Friday morning’s brief session.

Gragson set a time of 47.452 seconds in the draft on Thursday with VMS teammate Tom Hessert following in second on the speed chart with a lap of 47.457 seconds.

Sean Corr and Bobby Gerhart followed in the third and fourth positions with respective times of 47.490 and 47.491 seconds. Dalton Sargeant, Mark Thompson, Matt Tifft, Thomas Praytor, Travis Braden, Codie Rohrbaugh and Michael Lira respectively rounded out the top-10 in the standings.

Holmes ran a lap in his No. 23 Chevrolet of 47.340 seconds, topping the scoring pylon over Mason Mitchell Motorsports’s Quin Houff, who completed a lap of 47.398 seconds.

MMM teammates Kaz Grala and Kyle Weatherman then followed in the third and fourth spots with times of 47.474 and 47.622 seconds. Sargeant, Braden, Terry Jones, Thompson, Ricky Sanders and Bo LeMastus completed the top-10 of the second session’s standings.

A full field of 43 cars logged times in Thursday’s session with only 27 entries taking to the track in Friday’s one-hour session.

The ARCA field will next take to the track for group qualifying at 3:30 p.m ET. Groups for each qualification run will be selected by random draw.
