Lone Thursday Can-Am Duel Practice Washed Out
by Kyle Pokrefky February 23, 2017 0 commentsThe Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series field will head into the Can-Am Duels fresh on Thursday night with practice being washed out at Daytona International Speedway.
On the weekend schedule for Thursday afternoon was a lone 55-minute practice session that was to be used for fine-tuning prior to the night’s twin 60-lap races.
The finishing order of each respective duel will determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Chase Elliott, pole-sitter for the Daytona 500 for the second straight year, will lead the field to green for the first Can-Am Duel.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., returning to NASCAR competition after being sidelined by concussion-related symptoms since July, will bring the field to green for the second duel.
The first duel has a start time slated for 7:00 p.m ET, while the second has a scheduled start time of 9:00 p.m ET.
Both qualifying races will be televised live on FOX Sports. There will also be live radio coverage from both, MRN and SiriusXM Radio.
