RICHMOND, Va.– BK Racing announced the addition of Gray Gaulding to their 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series lineup for 2017 at Richmond International Raceway on Tuesday.

The 18-year old Colonial Heights, Virginia native, who will pilot the No. 23  Toyota Camry in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this year was a member of the NASCAR Next class in 2013 and 2014. Gaulding made his NASCAR premier series debut at Martinsville Speedway last year in October. He made an additional start at Phoenix International Raceway in November. The 2017 season will mark the first time that Gaulding has competed for BK Racing. His first start for the team will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 5.

“When I first walked into the BK Racing shop I felt at home. It has the perfect mixture of corporate America and the old-school race shop feeling,” said Gaulding in a press release. “Everyone was elbows deep preparing for Daytona, Richmond, Las Vegas and the entire season. Ron Devine (team owner) has invested a lot of time, effort, and equity into BK Racing and it shows as you walk the shop floor.”

Following his success in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Gaulding made 13 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series between the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He earned a top-five finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in 2014 and a 10th place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2015, while competing in the series. In 2016, he made two starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

The driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry for BK Racing made the announcement on Tuesday at Richmond International Raceway, a facility that is considered a home track for Gaulding and BK Racing.

“We appreciate the opportunity to host Gray Gaulding’s press conference with BK Racing and share the announcement with our RICHMOND NATION and TORQUE Club season ticket holders in Richmond,” said Richmond International Raceway President, Dennis Bickmeier in a press release. “We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with this promising young, Virginia driver, and a race team with roots in the Commonwealth. Virginia has a rich racing history, and RIR is committed to supporting drivers, team members, and the more than 20 other motorsports facilities in the region.”

Gaulding prepares to take on a difficult schedule with a steep learning curve ahead, but BK Racing has experience working with young drivers as they take on the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

“Over the years, BK Racing has given many talented young drivers the chance to compete in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and make a name for themselves,” said BK Racing owner, Rob Devine. “We see Gray Gaulding as a potential superstar in our sport.”
