Late Model Teams To Get Free Tire At Carteret Races In 2019

PELETIER, N.C. – Late Model racers will get one free tire each race at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway as part of the track’s efforts to keep costs low for racers.

Drivers will buy three tires and get the fourth tire free during regular season races, which keeps the cost of race tires at $487.50 – a reduction from the $500 teams were paying at the end of the 2018 season.  Each race will be a four-tire race and Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway will again run on Hoosier F50 tires, remaining consistent with last year’s Late Model racing program.

“We have made a commitment to keep costs low for our racers while also not changing too much,” Bob Lowery, owner of Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway, said.  “Thanks to the patronage of our loyal sponsors, we are able to offer this deal to our racers.  We want them to keep coming each race and are doing what we can, within our power, to keep costs low.”

Practice tires will be $625 for a set of four Hoosier tires.  More announcements regarding fuel and payout will be made in the coming weeks.

The division rules were announced on Monday.  Late Models at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway will run out of the engine and chassis portions of the 2019 Southeast Limited Late Model Series rulebook with minor variations.  The rules are available on the Carteret County Speedway website.

The first race for the 2019 season will take place on March 30th, paying $5,000 to win.  Other regular season Late Model races include dates on April 27th, May 26th, June 22nd, July 6th, July 27th, September 1st, September 21st, and November 3rd.  Additional Late Model races, that are not part of the regular season, include the CARS Response Energy Tour on July 13th and the $10,000-to-win Solid Rock Carriers 150 August 10th.
