TALLADEGA, Ala. – RFK Racing nearly lapped the field at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday while initiating a new strategy.

In Stage 1, the RFK Racing cars of Chris Buescher, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Preece broke out in front of the field as they ran 100%, while the pack behind didn’t. Ultimately, they placed the field in a box as they continued to lengthen their lead, and they got so far ahead, that they caught the pack and began lapping cars. RFK Racing ended up nearly lapping the field in Stage 1.

In this video, Preece talks about the strategy that led to the bizarre opening stage in the YellaWood 500.
