Three Teams Fail Technical Inspection Ahead Of Goodyear 400 At Darlington Raceway
by Hunter Thomas March 21, 2026 0 commentsDARLINGTON, SC – Chase Elliott’s, Chris Buescher’s and Timmy Hill’s car failed technical inspection several times on Saturday at Darlington Raceway.
As a result of failing tech, each team will lose their car chiefs and pit selection for Sunday’s Goodyear 400. Car chiefs being rejected include Matt Brandt (No. 9, Elliott), Josh Sisco (No. 17, Buescher) and Dylan Roberts (No. 66, Hill).
Losing pit selection may turn out to be a vital hit to a team’s efforts to winning on Sunday. With the NASCAR Cup Series running the Short Track Aerodynamic Package that’s expected to have a huge tire falloff, every advantage on pit road will matter.
Elliott hasn’t earned the finishes he’s wanted to in recent years at Darlington, but overall, he’s still considered a driver to watch on Sunday. With four top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 18 starts, look for the Hendrick Motorsports No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet to run upfront.
Buescher is also another driver to keep an eye on as well. He’s looking to capture his fourth consecutive top-10 finish at the track, Too Tough To Tame on Sunday. Last year, he finished sixth in the Goodyear 400.
Sunday’s Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway will broadcast live on FS1 at 3 p.m. ET.
