Speedway Plus Production, LLC Prepares For Bright Future At Florence Motor Speedway

On this date, the future of Florence Motor Speedway is very bright. Former owner/operator Charlie Powell and newly formed Speedway Plus Production, LLC have agreed upon terms to sell/buy the famous Pee Dee racetrack.

Owned by Steve Zacharias, Brian Vause, and Savannah Brotherton, Speedway Plus Production, LLC was formed following the news of the upcoming announced closure of Myrtle Beach Speedway in 2020. SPP was created with the intention of being a management company in various forms of motorsports. With its first formal acquisition, it has taken on ownership of the famed Florence Motor Speedway.

The intentions of SPP with Florence Motor Speedway is to bring back to the forefront, what once was a premier destination for racers all over the country. “We want to do exactly what we have done at MBS, at FMS, and keep all drivers from both tracks doing what they love with the people they love,” says Steve Zacharias.

With the transition there will be little changes, but one noticeable change will be the new logo for the speedway.

“We wanted to bring a little bit of 2020 and re-imaging to the track while keeping its roots with the name,” says Brian Vause.

SPP will also begin using the new website “FMSPEEDWAY.com” moving forward. Anyone that enters the old site will be automatically redirected to the new one to eliminate any confusion going forward. Additionally, SPP plans to clear up any past info from the FMS Facebook page and will begin its future with a clean slate. SPP’s first hire was to bring in the experience and knowledge of Mike Neff as Sales/Marketing Officer.

Florence Motor Speedway will see events in 2020 under the ownership starting September 4th, 2020. This race will be during Labor Day weekend in conjunction with the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

“We all thought it would be a great way to start the future of the speedway, having our first race during one of the greatest weekends of racing in NASCAR,” says Savannah Brotherton.

The race will be held on Friday night at FMS following the final practice at Darlington Raceway.

“We are hopeful that there will be fans in the stands at Darlington, and that those loyal race fans will drive the minor 15 minutes to see racing at its best,” says Zacharias.

This race will be held on a Friday night, but SPP says regular racing at Florence Motor Speedway will be run on Saturday nights in the future. With the closing of MBS still under way and the final race there set to be August 15th, Zacharias and Vause will continue to fulfill their obligations in Myrtle Beach until the end. With that, SPP will find time to do all the necessary improvements to make the first night at Florence Motor Speedway an amazing success.

With the limited time, some of the already planned improvements won’t be able to get completed, so for the 2020 season, bathroom trailers (with A/C and granite) as well as food trucks to provide high quality food will be put in place. During the off season, the previously mentioned improvements and many others will be conducted to better enhance the Florence Motor Speedway experience for all in the 2021 season and beyond.

Speedway Plus Productions, LLC looks forward to seeing all avid race fans and racing enthusiasts at the track!
