For the first time since his scary airplane crash in Elizabethton, Tennessee on Thursday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took to Twitter Monday evening to thank everyone for their support.

While landing at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport for his broadcast duties at Bristol Motor Speedway, Earnhardt’s airplane landed hard and came to a halt just beside the road near the runway. Earnhardt, his wife Amy, daughter Isla, dog Gus and two pilot escaped the airplane while it was engulfed in flames. Miraculously, everyone escaped the crash with no serious injuries.

On Twitter, Earnhardt said:

Earnhardt is slated to return to competition in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend for the first time since last year’s September race at Richmond Raceway, when he finished fourth. The 15-time National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Most Popular Driver will pilot the No. 8 Hellmann’s Chevrolet, which features a throwback scheme to his father’s 1975 NASCAR debut.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 will broadcast live on NBC and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 31.
