Cole Custer Captures Fourth Xfinity Series Win Of 2019 After Dominating Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill. – Cole Custer led all but 49 laps at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday as he dominated the Camping World 300 to win his fourth race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

On a restart with 21 laps to go, Custer made a huge, bold move going into Turn 1 to take over the race lead for the final time on Saturday. Custer led a race high of 151 laps throughout the afternoon in the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 00 Haas Automation Ford after starting on the outside of the pole. The 21-year-old has now finished inside the top-two in three of the last four races. Custer gives a lot of the credit for the recent success to everyone at the race shop.

“At these low grip race tracks it is a little bit of everything and that is a testament to our whole team and everyone at the shop that set up the car,” Custer said. “When you go to these low grip race tracks and can be good through a whole run it isn’t easy to do. I want to thank everyone at Haas Automation and Stewart-Haas Racing because we are going to be taking it to ‘em in the summertime.”

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular, Joey Logano finished second on Saturday. The start was Logano’s first in the series this season. Following the race, Logano said that Custer and his team were just too fast to outperform.

“We just weren’t quite good enough,” Logano said. “Cole and that whole Stewart-Haas team just beat us. They were faster in every department. We just weren’t quite good enough overall.”

Michael Annett, Brandon Jones and Austin Cindric rounded out the top-five, followed by Noah Gragson, Justin Haley, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick and Riley Herbst.

Throughout the 200-lap race, there were six cautions for 30 laps. No cautions were for multi-car accidents.

Reddick continues to leads Custer in the standings. Custer now trails by 71 points.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will visit Daytona International Speedway on Friday, July 5 for the Circle K Firecracker 250 Powered by Coca-Cola. Live coverage will broadcast on the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 7:30 p.m. ET.
