CONCORD, N.C. – Kyle Busch capitalized on a restart with just three laps to go in Friday night’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway to win his fifth and final NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race of the 2019 season.

NASCAR only allows Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers to compete in five NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series races a year, and Busch won all five that he entered this season. In fact, the driver of the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51 Cessna Toyota has won the last six races, dating back to July of last year. Friday night’s win marked the 56th of his career and his eighth at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“A couple of years ago I shot for it, wanted to have it and I think we only got two or three,” Busch said about winning five races in the series. “Overall just wish I could do more. It’s frustrating that you’re limited because your too good at what you do. I’d love to be able to go out here some more and win with my team and all my guys at Kyle Busch Motorsports and for our partners here with Toyota and Cessna, Beechcraft and anybody else.”

When the field took the green flag for the final three-lap dash, Busch was briefly challenged by Brennan Poole who finished second, his best-career finish in the series.

“The sway bar broke towards the beginning of that race, so the truck was all over freaking place,” Poole said. “I just gave it everything it had. I found a little something running the top lane there on the restarts, and it worked out really good.”

Following a disappointing last few weeks, Stewart Friesen rebounded to finish third on Friday night. The effort is Friesen’s fourth top-five finish of the year.

Ben Rhodes and pole-sitter Matt Crafton finished fourth and fifth. Completing the top-10 was Austin Hill, Todd Gilliland, Anthony Alfredo, Grant Enfinger and last week’s winner Ross Chastain.

Throughout the night, there were seven cautions for 31 laps. Only one caution was for a multi-truck accident, and it occurred on lap 79. Gus Dean got into the outside wall in Turn 2, and in an attempt to slow down, Korbin Forrester was rear ended by Angela Ruch.

Enfinger leads the standings by 15 points over Friesen.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will visit Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, June 7 for the SpeedyCash.com 400. Live coverage of the race will broadcast on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN).
