Kyle Busch Wins Fourth Consecutive Truck Race With Texas Victory

FORT WORTH, Tex. – Kyle Busch held off Stewart Friesen in the final laps of at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night to win the Vankor 350 and capture his 202^nd NASCAR national series victory.

In the final 20 laps, Busch and Friesen battled hard for the race lead. Friesen could get right on the back bumper of Busch’s No. 51 Cessna Toyota Tundra. It appeared that lapped traffic ultimately hindered Friesen’s efforts to get around Busch and challenge for the lead. Busch went on to lead the final 20 laps en route to his fourth series victory of the season.

Busch said, “The 24 (Brett Moffitt) was, who I was really worried about and then something happened with him and then the 52 (Stewart Friesen) was really fast and right there on our tailgate the whole finish of that race until about the last five laps. I don’t know if he just got heated up or what back there. He put up a good fight and about got to me a couple of times there and fortunately I was just able to hold out and keep the Cessna Tundra upfront and keep it out front. I don’t know, we just lacked a little bit of overall speed tonight. We just didn’t quite have exactly what we wanted.”

Friday night’s runner-up finish marked Friesen’s third consecutive top-five finish of the year. Friesen was the bridesmaid in this race last year as well.

ThorSport Racing’s Johnny Sauter, Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton rounded out the top-five. Completing the top-10 was Tyler Ankrum, Ross Chastain, Tyler Dippel, Brennan Poole and Ben Rhodes.

Throughout the 147-lap race, there nine cautions for 47 laps. The scariest caution of the night came out on lap 50, when Anthony Alfredo crashed in Turn 2. His truck ignited into flames as it slid down the banking. Alfredo was able to climb from his truck unscathed. A red flag was displayed for 15 minutes and 51 second for cleanup efforts.

While Friesen didn’t get the victory, he does lead Enfinger in the standings by 6 points.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will visit Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 3 for the JEGS 200. Live coverage will broadcast on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 5 p.m. ET.
