Kyle Busch Wins At Las Vegas, Goes Back-To-Back In NASCAR Truck Series

LAS VEGAS – Kyle Busch led all but 24 laps en route to winning the Strat 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday night.

Busch entered the night coming off a win at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend. On Friday, Busch started on the pole and absolutely dominated the event. The win is the Las Vegas native’s 53^rd in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the 196^th of his NASCAR national series career.

“Everybody back at Kyle Busch Motorsports, everybody at Rowdy Manufacturing built me a super fast Cessna Tundra so its awesome to be able to have such fast trucks and the great opportunity to be able to drive them,” said Busch, driver of the No. 51 Cessna Toyota. “Thank all these guys. We fought the handling on it all night long and they just kept working on it every pit stop, we kept making changes and trying to make adjustments to make it better. There (Brett) Moffitt at the end got close and ran me down. Thought he was going to be able to get by me, but I was just so tight. I couldn’t go, I couldn’t fire and kind of got going a little bit better there towards the end and was able to drive away some. That helped us with a little bit of gap.”

Busch will attempt to complete the weekend sweep by winning this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series events.

“I think the hardest one is going to be the second one,” Busch said. “We obviously had a really fast truck tonight and Rudy (Fugle, crew chief) made it easier for me, but we worked really hard on this thing to get there. We didn’t start great in practice, but overall proud to be in victory lane, proud to have little man (Brexton Busch) with me and we’ll celebrate here again hopefully tomorrow.”

Brett Moffitt got to the rear of Busch in the closing laps, but he was too loose trying to make a move for the lead, and he was never able to recover. Moffitt finished second, his second top-five in a row.

Matt Crafton rebounded from an early race crash to finish third. Stewart Friesen who finished fourth led 20 laps throughout the race. Busch’s teammate, Harrison Burton completed the top-five.

Rounding out the top-10 was Sheldon Creed, Todd Gilliland, Johnny Sauter, Ryan Reed and Ross Chastain.

There were only three cautions throughout the race and two of them were for the conclusions of Stages 1 and 2. The only accident of the race occurred on lap 7, when Creed went for a spin out of Turn 4 and through the frontstretch grass. With little time to react, Cory Roper ran into the back of Crafton. Both trucks suffered heavy damage. Chastain was also involved as well.

Grant Enfinger leads the series standings by six points over Burton.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Series will be back in action on Saturday, March 23. Live coverage of the race at Martinsville Speedway will broadcast on FOX and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 2 p.m. ET.
