PELETIER, N.C. – Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway will roar to life in one month when the Late Model division races for $5,000 in the first-ever daytime race in the track’s history.

Opening Day 2019 presented by Solid Rock Carriers is headlined by the $5,000-to-win Late Model feature and will also kick off the points season for Street Stocks, Legends, U-CARs, Mini Cups and Champ Karts.  Additionally, the Mini-Stock division will be in action with a non-points race.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to keep Bobby Watson’s dream alive as we celebrate God, country, and racing at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway,” Bob Lowery, owner of Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway, said.  “We decided to start the season out with a bang and, in doing so, we have partnered with Solid Rock Carriers to put some money on the table in that Late Model race.”

Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway made the decision to make the Mini-Stock race a non-points event to give some of its racers the option to compete in the Mini-Stock race at Richmond Raceway on the same weekend.

Previous big money races at Carteret County have seen competitors such as CARS Tour standouts Layne Riggs and Justin Carroll, ARCA Menards Series competitor Connor Hall, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver Mason Diaz, among others, all compete at the 4/10-mile track in Peletier, North Carolina.

The season-opening race will also kick off what will be a big season for the INEX Legends division at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway.  Drivers from all across the United States will make visits to Carteret County Speedway during the regular season in preparation for the INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals on October 19th – a race that is expected to draw well over 120 cars.

Additionally, Opening Day will be the first race under a new rules package for the Champ Karts.  During the offseason, the track announced the Champ Karts would run wings on the top of the cars, making them easier to identify for fans, safer for competitors and is expected to make the racing even more exciting.’

The race weekend will kick off on Friday with Open Practice in the afternoon followed by a Green Flag Party and driver’s appreciation event at 7pm EST.  The Green Flag Party will feature live music from The Konnection.

Opening Day 2019 presented by Solid Rock Carriers at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway will go green at 2pm EST on Saturday, March 30th.  Tickets will remain $15 for adults, kids 10 and under admitted free, and pit passes $25 for the regular season.
