MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Chad McCumbee overcame adversity to win the Myrtle Beach 400 at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Saturday night, his first victory in the prestigious NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event.

McCumbee started the 250-lap race in 13th, but just prior to halfway, his car experienced an exhaust leak. Exposed to carbon monoxide, McCumbee struggled to just make it to halfway; however, he finished the first 125 laps in fifth, and the crew was able to make repairs. Once the green flag flew to kickoff the final 125 laps, McCumbee came to life and outran Corey Heim for the win.

Finishing behind McCumbee and Heim were Tommy Lemons Jr., Peyton Sellers, Will Burns, Bradley McCaskill, Lucas Williams, Jacob Heafner and Timothy Peters.
