Brett Moffitt Wins At ISM Raceway; Joins Haley, Sauter & Gragson In Championship 4

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Brett Moffitt punched his ticket to the Championship 4 Friday night after winning the Lucas Oil 150 at ISM Raceway.

On the final restart with three laps to go, leader Noah Gragson spun his tires while on the outside. Second-place Grant Enfinger was sandwiched in the middle as Moffitt battled on the inside to make the race-winning move by taking over the lead.

Moffitt, driver of the Hattori Racing Enterprises No. 16 KOBE Toyopet Toyota had a speeding penalty entering pit road following Stage 2 on lap 49 and had to battle back to have a chance at the victory. The win marks Moffitt’s fifth of the season, and with the victory, he will compete for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“We had a really good KOBE Toyopet Tundra all night long,” Moffitt said. “I kind of screwed us there with the pit road speeding penalty, which I wasn’t even trying to push it so I was a little bit caught off-guard, but I knew once we got the track position back, I didn’t know whether I wanted a caution at the end or not because we were in and then the caution kind of mixed that up, but luckily we were able to take advantage of it, got a badass restart and get to the front.”

Noah Gragson finished second, securing his spot in the Championship 4. While the final restart of the night was intense, Gragson believes that it was just hard racing as drivers were battling for their championship berths.

“I just got run up the hill in turns one and two on the restart and it was just hard racing honestly,” Gragson said. “Beating and banging, that’s what ISM Raceway is all about. Main focus was to get to next weekend in Homestead and obviously I wanted this win, led a lot of laps early in the race and slid through my pit box and had to restart in the back just a mistake on my part. We’re on to the next round and that’s what we came here to do obviously.”

Harrison Burton finished third. Enfinger dropped back to finish fourth, Stewart Friesen finished fifth, followed by Tyler Ankrum, Johnny Sauter, Derek Kraus, Christian Eckes and Sheldon Creed.

The four drivers competing for a championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway are Moffitt, Gragson, Sauter and Justin Haley. They have 15 wins between them this season. All four have proven to be contenders and the race for the Championship will be one to watch.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will complete the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday, November 16. Live coverage of the Ford EcoBoost 200 will broadcast on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 8 p.m. ET.
