Christopher Bell Edges Chase Briscoe For Win In Texas As Timothy Peters Flips

FORT WORTH, Tex. – Following a scary crash that left Timothy Peters upside down on the fronstretch at Texas Motor Speedway, Christopher Bell was declared the winner over Chase Briscoe in Friday night’s Winstaronlinegaming.com 400.

As Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe battled side-by-side for the lead while taking the white flag, a crash exiting Turn 4 sent Timothy Peters end-over-end on the frontstretch. When Peters’ truck finally came to rest, he was on his roof, and safety crews had to flip the truck back over so that he could climb out.

Since the leaders had already taken the white flag, a winner needed to be called between Bell and Briscoe, who were nearly even as they made their way through the trio-oval. NASCAR declared Bell of the winner the yellow-checkered finish. The driver of the No. 4 JBL Toyota started the race in the 21st position, and he led 92 laps en route to his second victory of the 2017 season. The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver won the second race of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway back in March. Bell now sits second in the standings, trailing leader, Johnny Sauter by just 40 points.

“I didn’t think he (Chase Briscoe) had the lead whenever he got it and then I didn’t think I had the lead whenever I got it, so it’s just so tight, man,” Bell said. “Me and Chase have known each other for a long time – we’re really good friends and met each other racing online whenever we were in our teens and now here we are racing in the Camping World Truck Series together.”

Briscoe, driver of the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford missed out on his first-ever NASCAR Camping World Truck series win by mere inches. In the closing laps, Briscoe chased Bell down and edged him for the lead just as the ninth caution came out. On the final restart with just two laps to go, Briscoe had control; however, Bell hung strong on the outside line as he was able to edge the Brad Keselowski Racing driver for the win.

Grant Enfinger finished fourth, and Ryan Truex had yet, another impressive finish as he crossed the finish line in fourth. Ben Rhodes completed the top-five. Rounding out the top-10 was Justin Haley, pole-sitter Noah Gragson, Johnny Sauter, Matt Crafton and Kaz Grala.

There were 10 cautions during the Winstaronlinegaming.com 400, and there were also eight lead changes among five different leaders.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be back in action on Saturday, June 17 for the Gateway 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park. Live coverage of the race will broadcast on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and the Motor Racing Network (MRN) at 8:30 p.m. ET.
