South Carolina’s Army Staff Sgt. Terry Wagoner Will Be Honored On Clint Bowyer’s Ford During The Coca-Cola 600

CONCORD, N.C. –  Army Staff Sgt. Terry D. Wagoner will be one of 40 fallen military service members that will be honored on the windshield of a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series car on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Pelzer, South Carolina native’s name will ride on Clint Bowyer’s  Stewart-Haas Racing No. 14 Haas Automation Ford Fusion during the Coca-Cola 600.

Staff Sgt. Wagoner lost his life while defending the U.S.A.’s freedom on September 14, 2007. He was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) while on patrol in Baghdad during his second Iraq tour. He was only 28-years-old.

Sunday will mark the third year in-a-row that NASCAR has launched the NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola’s ‘600 Miles of Remembrance’ platform that honors the brave men and women who have fought and died defending the country. Both, NASCAR and Coca-Cola have a long history of honoring members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

“There is no prouder moment for our sport than when the entire NASCAR family rallies to honor and pay tribute to the United States Armed Forces,” said Brent Dewar, NASCAR Chief Operating Officer. “NASCAR Salutes continues to grow thanks to the support of our industry and partners who believe just as strongly in recognizing those who’ve served and continue to serve today.”

Clint Bowyer will start the 58^th running of the Coca-Cola 600 in the ninth position. In Boywer’s 22 starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, he has earned one win that he captured in October of 2012, as well as two top-five and five top-10 finishes. He enters the prestigious race 10^th in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings.

The Coca-Cola 600 will broadcast live on FOX and the Performance Racing Network (PRN) at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday evening.
