Food City 500 Postponed To Mondayby Hunter Thomas April 23, 2017 0 comments
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due to rain, the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway has been postponed until Monday afternoon.
On Sunday, persistent rain forced NASCAR to make the call to postpone the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race around noon. The Food City 500 will now be run at 1 p.m. ET on Monday. Live broadcast of the eighth points race of the season will be found on FOX, the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Kurt Busch, driver of the Stewart Haas Racing No. 41 Haas Automation/Monster Energy Ford Fusion said, “I’m hopeful that once we burn through some of that top surface, and we get through to where we’re starting to wear it away, then the outside groove will come into play. We didn’t see super-long runs yesterday in the XFINITY race and that’s where our cars when we get into those big, long runs we’ll groom in that outside groove. Hopefully, you’ll have a bottom and a top once it gets down to it.”
Kyle Larson will start from the pole in the Chip Ganassi Racing No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet with Chase Elliott, driver of the Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Mountain Dew/Little Caesars Chevrolet staring alongside of him.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage will open at 9 a.m. ET. Fans will be able to enter the grandstands beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
Driver introductions will get underway at 12:20 p.m. ET.
