DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.– Ricky Stenhouse Jr. may share the track with his girlfriend and fellow Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver, Danica Patrick, and be positively impacted by her healthy cooking and fitness routine, but don’t expect him to become her full-time social media photographer in the near future.

“I told her that I won’t be an Instagram-Dad or Instagram-Husband, or whatever they’re called,” said Stenhouse, driver of the No. 17 Fastenal Ford for Roush Fenway Racing, as he cited a video of a man being directed around by his significant other to take her photos and videos for social media. “I was like ‘look, I’m not doing that. I’ll do some videos every now and then.’”

Even in his attempt to fill the role at times, he’s realized that his girlfriend, who takes to the yoga mat, gym and kitchen when away from the track, has already got her social media game under control.

“I took a picture of her doing handstands, but then I realized she already had her phone set up anyways, so she had it,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “She does a lot of setting her phone up to do handstands. Then she’ll have video. She’s good at handstands, really good at handstands.”

Patrick, driver of the No. 10 Aspen Dental Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing, also posts on social media multiple times a week about her intense workout regimen, which Stenhouse Jr. participates in much of the time; however, he has noticed a trend in her posts regarding their workouts.

“I give her a hard time,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “She only posts the ones she beats me on, never the ones that I beat her on.”

Stenhouse Jr. continued and said, “There are definitely workouts that I’m better at and there are workouts that I excel at,”  Stenhouse added. “Anything with legs, like squats, jumping and lunges, she kills me. I can’t keep up. Any upper-body type stuff, I’m definitely more competitive.”

The frequency and intensity in workouts isn’t the only thing that has changed for Stenhouse Jr.. Over the course of the couple’s more than four-year relationship, his significant other has changed the course of his diet from fried foods to healthy, home-cooked meals.

“It changed a lot,” said Stenhouse Jr. regarding his diet. “Whatever she cooks, I eat. I do eat a lot healthier and I do workout more. We built a gym at the house, which is really nice.”

He did admit to slipping up every now and then, especially when his food options aren’t as diverse in nutritional value.

“There’s other times that I don’t eat super healthy,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “This whole week I have been at the dirt track and turns out they don’t have a whole lot of healthy stuff there.”
