2014 ARCA Racing Series champion Mason Mitchell is returning to the ARCA Racing Series as a driver this weekend as pilot of the No. 98 Karl’s Chevrolet for the General Tire Grabber 100 at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.
With his start in today’s race, the 2014 champion will make his second start of the 2016 season, having made a start at his home track, Iowa Speedway, in July.
The No. 98 Mason Mitchell Motorsports car enters DuQuoin fresh off of the heels of a win at Springfield’s Illinois State Fairgrounds several weeks ago with driver Justin Haley.
The West Des Moines, Ia. native has shown a prowess for dirt racing in the ARCA ranks. In four combined starts at Springfield and DuQuoin, Mitchell has four top-10s with a best finish of second at Springfield in 2014.
The three-time ARCA Racing Series race winner also holds a best finish of fourth at DuQuoin that came in 2014.
“The two dirt races are always two of the best races all season long,” Mitchell said. “I’ve been really close to winning at Springfield and DuQuoin. So I have a little unfinished business on the dirt tracks.”
“Winning at Springfield was a big confidence booster for our entire team. We’re bringing the same car to DuQuoin that won Springfield.”
The General Tire Grabber 100 is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m CT start with arcaracing.com providing live scoring and a live radio broadcast of the race.
The 100-lap event will be broadcast on television on a tape delay on the American Sports Network.
