Grant Enfinger Seeking DuQuoin Threepeat with Cunningham Motorsportsby Kyle Pokrefky August 29, 2016 0 comments
2015 ARCA Racing Series champion Grant Enfinger will make his second series start of the year this week with Cunningham Motorsports at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, the team has announced.
Enfinger, winner of the 2014 and 2015 runnings of the General Tire Grabber 100, will go for his third consecutive win in the 100-lap event in southern Illinois this weekend as pilot of Cunningham’s No. 22 Ford.
“I am really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of an ARCA car next week,” Enfinger said. “It’s great to know that I’ll be in great equipment because I will be in Paul Andrews’ car.
“The guys at Cunningham Motorsports have always been competitors on the track, but I definitely think there is a mutual respect there. Those guys have a lot of speed this year.”
The reigning series champion has had one prior ARCA start this season with Bret Holmes Racing at Pocono Raceway that resulted in a race win in June.
The 15-time ARCA race winner has also been a regular sight on the circuit this year, having served as crew chief for Bret Holmes in select races and for friend Kelly Kovski in last week’s race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Enfinger will be the ninth different driver to pilot the No. 22 machine this year and will seek to give the team its third win of the season. The car went to victory lane with drivers Parker Kligerman and Myatt Snider respectively at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Toledo Speedway earlier in the year.
The General Tire Grabber 100 will get underway on Sunday, September 4th and will run under the lights with a start time scheduled for 8:00 p.m CT.
