Brett Moffitt Racing for Red Horse Racing at Kentuckyby Kyle Pokrefky July 6, 2016 0 comments
Brett Moffitt will make his return to NASCAR’s national circuit as a substitute for Matt Tifft and Red Horse Racing in Thursday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’s event, the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway.
Moffitt, the 2015 Sprint Cup Series rookie of the year, will make his first Truck start in three years this week and his first since the 2013 season.
The 23-year-old from Grimes, Iowa will pilot Red Horse Racing’s No. 11 Toyota in what appears to be a one-off start for the healing Tifft.
Tifft underwent surgery to remove a low-grade glioma from his brain this past week and is currently recovering from his procedure. A return date for the Hinckley, Ohio native will be determined at a later date.
“Obviously, we’re thinking of Matt and can’t wait for him to return, so we’re sending him our best wishes and we hope to see him back at the track soon,” Moffitt said. “I hate that it’s under these circumstances, but I’m really grateful for this opportunity with Red Horse Racing and I hope it can lead to more.”
In his two previous series starts, recorded respective results of 14th and 17th at Kentucky and Michigan International speedway with ThorSport Racing and Hattori Racing Enterprises in each respective start.
Through nine races this season, Red Horse’s No. 11 entry presently sits ninth in the owners standings entering this Thursday’s event.
