Rain Brings First Sprint Cup Pocono Practice to Early Close

Rain and foggy conditions brought first practice for the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 to an early close on Friday morning.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Carl Edwards was the fastest driver in the abbreviated practice session having clocked in a time of 50.055 seconds.

Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch were next fastest on the speed chart with respective lap times of 50.328 and 50.378 seconds.

Following the top-three, Paul Menard, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Tony Stewart were next fastest on the speed chart.

Most drivers in the session only managed to complete one timed lap, including the top-nine drivers on the speed chart. Michael Annett, Chris Buescher and Brian Scott completed the most laps of the session with seven laps turned in by each driver.

Only 28 drivers completed a lap in the session.

Qualifying for the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 is slated for a 4:15 p.m ET start time and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1, weather permitting.
