Dakoda Armstrong Filling In for Matt Tifft at Winchesterby Kyle Pokrefky June 21, 2016 0 comments
Venturini Motorsports has announced that former ARCA Racing Series regular Dakoda Armstrong will race in place of Matt Tifft at Winchester Speedway on Sunday in the Herr’s Potato Chips 200.
Armstrong, 24, will pilot the team’s No. 15 Toyota Camry in what is to be a one-off start as a substitute for Tifft, who is currently recovering from having a minor back surgery last Wednesday.
Tifft most recently was replaced this past weekend in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and XFINITY Series events at Iowa Speedway.
Tifft is expected to return to his Joe Gibbs Racing seat in the XFINITY Series in time for next weekend’s race at Daytona International Speedway. His next scheduled start in the ARCA Racing Series is the Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway in late-September.
Armstrong, a regular in the XFINITY Series with JGL Racing, will make his first start in the ARCA Racing Series since July of 2011.
The former Cunningham Motorsports driver has three wins in the series to his credit with one win at Winchester coming in 2011.
The driver of the No. 28 WinField Toyota in the XFINITY ranks competed full-time in ARCA in 2010 and finished the season seventh in points.
Over the course of 33 career ARCA starts, Armstrong has a pole, eight wins and 19 top-10s to go with his three race wins.
The Herr’s Potato Chips 200 will get underway at 2:00 p.m ET on Sunday and will be broadcast live on your local American Sports Network affiliate. Live timing and scoring will be provided by arcaracing.com.
