Red Bull Global Rallycross Set To Make A Return To Daytona International Speedwayby Benjamin Sanders April 16, 2016 0 comments
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the third consecutive season, the Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) will return to the historic Daytona International Speedway for another exciting double-header weekend, June 17-19.
Daytona’s reputation as one of the most adaptable global racing facilities will once again be the backdrop for the event utilizing the horseshoe section of the infield road course to create the tight corners, long straights and track centerpiece and the incredible dirt jump.
“We’re excited to have Red Bull Global Rallycross return to Daytona International Speedway,” said Daytona International Speedway President, Joie Chitwood III in a Red Bull GRC press release. “This is a unique event with an international field of drivers and gives our fans the opportunity to experience yet another thrilling form of racing here at the Speedway.”
The racing, as ever, will be frantic and unpredictable. Over the past two seasons, Rhys Millen, Tanner Foust and Sebastian Eriksson have each claimed victory. Eriksson’s victory was the first of his Supercar career. The circuit poses a challenge as some of the series’ stars have struggled to get the results their pace deserved. The 2015 event also provided a series debut for motorcycle racing legend and IndyCar winner, Jeff Ward.
This being a doubleheader weekend, the points can swing massively if the drivers and teams do not dial in the correct setup or fail to advance to the final. Making good use of practice time and keeping the car out of trouble will be imperative to a successful weekend.
As always, tickets for Red Bull GRC events give the fans and their families the ability to explore the paddock, meet the drivers and watch the teams furiously repair and maintain their cars.
Once the start lights go out, expect the action-packed nature of the racing in the Red Bull GRC to be intensified as more than just bragging rights are on the line, as a win at the legendary Daytona International Speedway is at stake and is coveted by all drivers and teams in the paddock.
