19-year-old Matt Tifft has signed with Red Horse Racing to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
The Hinckley, Ohio native replaces Ben Kennedy as the driver of the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for the next three races in the Truck Series with options open for additional starts in the future.
Tifft’s first start with the team will take place in two weeks in the Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway. Following that, he’ll compete with the team in the Dover 200 at Dover International Speedway and in the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Tifft has 15 career starts in the Camping World Truck Series with six top-10 finishes to his credit. He has a best race finish of eighth that he’s earned on four separate occasions in his young career.
Tifft’s new partial schedule in the Camping World Truck Series adds on to his existing partial schedule with Joe Gibbs Racing and JGL Racing in the XFINITY Series. Tifft is expected to make a minimum of 16 starts in the XFINITY Series this season.
“We’re going to some tracks I really enjoy and I’m confident we’re going to have some speed and we’ll go and try to get some really good runs.”
“We’re very glad to bring Matt on board for the next few races,” team owner Tom DeLoach added. “He’s a great young driver with a lot of potential and I think we can help him gain some more experience and continue to improve.”
Through three races this season, the No. 11 team sits 13th in the owners standings with a best race finish of 11th coming at Martinsville Speedway last month.
