Ben Kennedy and GMS Racing have announced that they have partnered together for 10 confirmed starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season.
Kennedy, 24, will pilot the team’s No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado for at least 10 races this season, starting with the Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway in two weeks.
The Daytona Beach, Fla. native moves to the GMS organization after racing in the first three events of this season with Red Horse Racing.
Kennedy will bring with him sponsorship from Jacob Companies from Red Horse to his new team.
“I am very excited to join GMS Racing for the remainder of the 2016 season,” Kennedy said. “I have watched the organization grow into a powerhouse team over the last year.
“All of their teams show up to the track each weekend with fast Chevrolets and I have total confidence that GMS will provide me with a solid truck each weekend. It’s a great privilege to join Johnny [Sauter], Spencer [Gallagher], Kaz [Grala] and Grant [Enfinger] in the driver lineup. I am looking forward to the accomplishments we will achieve together as a team. ”
In 53 career starts in the Camping World Truck Series, Kennedy has six top-fives, 16 top-10s and a single Keystone Light Pole Award to his name.
Kennedy’s new No. 33 ride currently sits 18th in the Truck Series’s owners standings with Grant Enfinger driving the truck to its best finish of the year at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a fifth-place finish.
Announcements regarding additional sponsorship partners and a full schedule for Kennedy are expected in the coming weeks.
