CONCORD, N.C. – With rain in the forecast, the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Southern Sizzler 150 has been postponed to Saturday, April 2.
The second stop on the 2016 season schedule was originally scheduled to begin around 6 p.m. tonight. Featured on the entry list for this weekend’s race was a stout 18-car field. A schedule for the race on April 2 will be released at a later date.
Ted Christopher celebrated in Victory Lane the last time the Tour visited the half-mile oval back in 2009. The driver of the No. 00 M&T Enterprises Chevrolet was on this weekend’s entry list, ready to defend his race win.
However, Burt Myers, driver of the No. 1 Remington SCT/Speedway Auto/Citrusafe Ford was entered into the event as the championship point leader. Myers won last weekend’s Davis Roofing 150 at Caraway Speedway. He sat on the pole during the 2009 event that Christopher won. Burt Myers finished fourth that night.
Up next on the schedule for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour is the Southern Sizzler 150 at Concord Speedway on Saturday, April 2, followed by the South Boston 150 at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, April 9.
